foundations youth ministry

Foundations is all about SHARING THE GOOD NEWS AND LOVE OF JESUS CHRIST WITH STUDENTS SO THAT THEY MAY BUILD THEIR LIFE UPON  THE ONLY ETERNAL AND SECURE FOUNDATION.

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.                                                   (Matthew 7:24-27 ESV)

During the school year, Foundations Youth Ministry regularly meets on Wednesday night gathering for 5-12th grade students.  High school meets over a meal and God’s word from 4:30 until 6 PM.  Junior high meets from 6:30 until 8 PM.  Junior high gets to play some games, hang out together, eat a snack, and most importantly learn about God from His Word, the Bible.

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.   (2 Timothy 3:16-17 ESV)

In the midst of the school year we also meet for many different activities, focusing on discipleship, service, leadership, fellowship, and other parts of the Christian life.  The Amazing Bible Race is one such event that is lots of fun for the students and beneficial in increasing their knowledge of the Lord through His Word.

For students to attend any activities off of the church property they must have turned in the following:  LCC Medical and Liability Forms

Foundations Ministry Model

All Foundations events have been planned based on Christ’s model of Ministry.  To understand why we do what we do please read the following.

MASS -
Focused on: RELATIONSHIP
Biblical Foundation -
Christ Feeding the 5,000 (Matt 14:13-20)
Jesus wowed a whole region, and used this mass of people to develop relationships and give a message of hope, the Gospel.  Foundations seeks to do the same, create a buzz that something is going on and impact students for the Kingdom.. .

CROWD -
Focused on: WORSHIP AND SCRIPTURE
Biblical Foundation -
The Disciples at Pentecost (Acts 1&2)
After Christ ascended into heaven He told his disciples to wait for the Holy Spirit, so they did.  They met regularly together for prayer, fellowship, meals and prayer and to encounter Scripture until they were sent out.

DISCIPLESHIP -
Focused on: DISCIPLINE AND LIFE CHANGE
Biblical Foundation -
The 12 Apostles
For three years the twelve walked with Jesus, doing as He did.  Jesus challenged them, developed their character, and loved them dearly, and they did too (except Judas).  When he left they lead the church and discipled others.

LEADERSHIP -
Focused on: DEVELOPMENT AND SERVICE
Biblical Foundation -
The Inner 3 - James, John, and Peter
Jesus took three men into a closer relationship and they led the rest of the disciples.  It was a greater level of discipleship with more responsibility.
